Best Pet Grooming: Designer Paws

When you bring your pet to Designer Paws for a spa day you can feel at ease knowing you have left them in only the best care.

Designer Paws has been Prince Albert’s premiere grooming spa since November of 2004.

Mary Wagner, owner of Designer Paws in Prince Albert, has over 30 years experience in the industry, ranging from grooming, showing and obedience training, and she takes great pride in what she does.

“We attend various seminars and competitions to keep up with the newest ideas in the grooming industry,” said Wagner.

“We are busy but I love what I do.”

At Designer Paws, their motto is humanity before vanity and it is a slogan they operate on.

Wagner said they always try to give the clients what they want but it is always the animal’s comfort that comes first.

Since Wagner first opened in 2004, she has expanded from a single person operation to a staff of four people.

The team at Designer Paws includes:

• Kirk Pocha, who also has over 30 years of experience in the dog grooming industry, has also worked with some of the best groomers in Western Canada.
• Brenda Ross, who joined the team at Designer Paws shortly after moving from B.C. to Saskatchewan, also has an extensive pet care background and over eight years of experience. Ross is an exceptional dog and cat groomer.
• Trina Thompson, who is a fabulous grooming assistant, has over six years of experience at Designer Paws. Trina’s hard work is, in many ways, the backbone of the business.

Designer Paws was voted as this year’s Best of the Best winner for Best Pet Grooming but it is not the first award the grooming shop been recognized for. In 2013 Designer Paws was also the winner of the Samuel McLeod Business Awards Service Award. They were also awarded the best pet services award from Best of PA in 2013 and 2014.

At Designer Paws they provide a relaxing grooming environment for their clients pets and they promise to treat them with the upmost care.

Wagner said they try to give back at Designer Paws as much as they can and they support a variety of local community organizations including the SPCA, Mont St. Joseph Foundation, The Victoria Hospital Foundation, Children’s Haven and more.
