Best Neighbourhood : Crescent Acres

Oct 2, 2014 | 2:42 PM

Crescent Acres is Prince Albert’s premiere neighbourhood.

Alan Vogt, president of the Prince Albert and district association of realtors said over the last decade or more Crescent Acres has continued to grow.  He said there are more building permits issued for that area than anywhere else in the city.

“If you look at where the city is growing we can’t go north because we got the river so all we can do is go southeast and southwest, so southeast is the biggest because we have more area there and there is more lots for sale.,” said Vogt. “Southwest being the West Hill there is new construction going on up there as well but not as much because there isn’t as much land space available there, so I think that is the reason why Crescent Acres is probably our premiere area of the city.”

“And what that does for the area itself is the homes are all new, which is nice they have new pavement and new curbs, so it’s a very clean looking neighbourhood,” he added.

Crescent Acres is popular amongst families and features a lot of bi-levels and two-story homes, which are kind of the norm for that section of the city, however a new gated townhouse and condo community was also recently developed in the area.

“There are a number of different types of homes there, but on average a home would start at the older area of Crescent Acres probably around the $250,000 mark and when getting into the newest area we find homes that are getting into the $400,000, $500,000, $600,000 mark quite easily, so it’s a very, very affluent community.”

Crescent Acres is home to St. Francis School and Vickers School and the area features a variety of recreational facilities that locals can enjoy including an outdoor skating rink, soccer pitch, softball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts and playground equipment.

Crescent Acres is located between Marquis Road, 15th Ave E., 15th St. E., 28th St. E., and Olive Diefenbaker Drive and it extends to the city limits in the east. It lies within Ward 6 and Martin Ring is the councillor for the area.  In 2001 Crescent Acres had a total population of approximately  2,515 people.
