Victoria Hospital has been designated as the best place to work in Prince Albert.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region takes care of their staff by making an effort to ensure that a career at Victoria Hospital or within the health region is an enjoyable one.  Their motto is live, work and play.

Nola Lehner a medical laboratory technologist at Victoria Hospital has worked within the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region at Victoria Hospital for over 20 years.  She said her career at Victoria Hospital as a laboratory technologist has been a fulfilling one.

“I moved here as a student a number years ago, said Lehner. “I love what I do, I enjoy my work, I like where I work, I like the people that I work with and I always knew I wanted to pursue a career in health care.”

Lehner said a job in health care is never Monday to Friday, nine to five, however it is a factor that has never bothered her.

“When somebody comes in with a heart attack or someone comes in with a sick baby or moms having a baby you have to be there and available 24 hours a day and I was willing to do that,” she said.

Jasmene Lizee a registered nurse in the emergency department at Victoria Hospital has also enjoyed the time she has spent in Prince Albert at Victoria Hospital within the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region. For three years she worked on the medical palliative floor of the hospital and now for the last year she has worked in emergency.

“There is some managers that are near and dear to my heart and have really inspired me to be a better nurse,” said Lizee.

“Working in the emergency department the team atmosphere is really quite good. It can get very hectic it’s a really crazy environment sometimes so team work is really important.”

Lizee said Prince Albert is where she has spent the majority of her time since becoming a nurse. She said so far it has been an enjoyable experience and she thanks the staff at Victoria Hospital for that.

“I think staff make it all. If you have staff that support you and you can have a laugh every once and a while that makes all the difference,” she said.
