Best Home Builder: Miller Contracting Ltd

Miller Contracting Ltd. has been building commercial, multi-unit residential and single family custom homes in Prince Albert for over 40 years.

“We handle everything right from breaking ground to handing over the keys to the customer,” said Dan Yungwirth, General Manager of Miller Contracting.

When hiring Miller Contracting, clients know they are hiring the best based on reputation and experience. Yungwirth said due to their many years of experience as homebuilders they have, over time, developed a very close professional relationship with other trades in the industry. They know who will do the best work and meet the standards of their clients.

“We have been able to cultivate those relationships with sub trades to the point where we know them really well and we know who is going to do the best job,” he said. “The success of any job is really the sum of all the trades you have working on it and the experience that we have allows us to choose from among the best.”

“You can’t just wake up one day and say “Hey I’m a builder.” and join those things,’” said Yungwirth.

“So when someone buys a home from us with the New Home Warranty they know that there is a really good, strong company backing it up.”

Currently Miller Contracting has a crew of 15 staff including three journeyman carpenters.

“There is some pretty deep, experienced roots here and it’s amazing to watch these guys when it comes to a job – they can look back at other jobs that they have done and challenges that they have overcome and say ‘gosh we did this on this job, might have been 10 years ago,’” said Yungwirth, and they use that knowledge.  “So the depth of experience is pretty valuable.”

Miller Contracting may not be the biggest contractor in Prince Albert, but they are a company that clients can trust.

“The big things that we try to get across to people is that if you are building something you should be building with somebody who has the experience, can provide you a warranty and stand behind it,” said Yungwirth. “We see that there is a lot of home building out there right now that doesn’t offer that and people are spending a lot of money – 400, 500, 600 thousand dollars on a home – and it doesn’t have a warranty.”

“If I buy a toaster for 20 bucks at a store I expect it to have a warranty if it doesn’t work when I plug it in and people should expect the same thing on the huge amount of dollars they spend on a new home,” he added.
