Bears cool a hot Sharks’ goalie in OT; get 4 awards

The Prince Albert Northern Bears had little problems with the Battlefords Sharks in the regular season, beating them in their last 18 meeting and outscoring 28-7 in four wins this year. But the playoffs are a different animal.

Mintos win their eighth in a row

Regardless of what happens in their final two games of the regular season, the Prince Albert Mintos will head into the playoffs on a high.

After Sunday’s 10-3 thrashing of the Notre Dame Hounds, the Mintos have now won their past eight games they’ve played since Jan. 27.

Raiders melt ICE in shootout

The Prince Albert Raiders needed eight rounds of the shootout, but they were able to beat the Kootenay ICE 4-3 Saturday on the road to snap a three-game losing streak. After the contest, the Raiders and ICE are tied for 21st in the WHL rankings with 33 points.

Titans’ Hordal wins rookie of year award; other briefs

Prince Albert’s Ryan Hordal was presented with a Prairie Junior Hockey League award on Saturday at the Kinsmen Arena.

Hordal was presented with the PJHL Rookie of the Year honour by league president Bob Dybvig before the Titans did battle against the Delisle Chiefs.
