From his memory, Australian Layton Reid has only ever pitched one no-hitter in his softball career.

He sure chose the absolute perfect time to do it as Reid no-no'd Japan in the XII WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship Saturday 6-1.

Even after Team Canada bowed out of the XII WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship with a 5-2 defeat to New Zealand on a cold and windy Saturday night, the Canadian faithful gave their warmest applause.

Canada unveils secret weapon: big Mac Fischer, in win over Hong Kong

With the exception of one pinch hit appearance, Mac Fischer sat and watched Team Canada play for almost all first four games of the XII WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship on the bench, waiting for his chance to shine at the world stage.

Team Canada has a bye Wednesday at the Junior Men’s Softball World Championship for the first time since the tournament started Saturday night. They’ll celebrate the fact they’re 4-0 with a barbeque before ending their group games with Hong Kong Thursday.

Manion pitches no-no in Canada’s second worlds win

Riley Manion was the receiver of Team Canada’s (2-0) first Gatorade shower at the XII WBSC Junior Men’s Softball World Championship, after tossing a no-hitter their 6-1 victory over the Czech Republic (1-1) Sunday at Rotary Field.
