Attempted murder charge stayed after witnesses refuse to testify

The trial for a man accused of attempted murder after an alleged shooting in downtown Prince Albert last year will not continue after witnesses in the case refused to testify.

Charges against Derrick Leon Laliberte, 25, were stayed Thursday at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority recognized young volunteers from the Prince Albert region Wednesday. A number of student volunteers also received bursaries to further their students, including Jacey Holodniuk, Melina Mercier, Alyssa Furber, Jayden Bissky, Renee Pouliot, Rachel Pelechaty and Ashley Fee.

Health authority recognizes local youths' volunteerism

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has recognized several young volunteers from the Prince Albert area.

Rabbit Fire grows in size

The fire inside the Prince Albert National Park has grown in size and now has about 200 firefighters working to knock it down, with new additions arriving from Quebec and the Northwest Territories in recent days.
