An $8-million paving project in Waskesiu is nearing completion.

The project which began in the fall of 2009, has seen the reconstruction and re-paving of nearly 13 kilometres of roadways in the Town of Waskesiu.

The initial project completion date was the end of October.

''We had some issues with weather as anyone else in the province did, but we still expect to get all the work done this fall,” said town manager Terry Schneider.

In addition to main roads, the project included repairing parking lots, bike paths, and underground utilities.
Schneider said despite the delays caused by construction, the community has really been supportive.

“They really appreciate all the smooth surface roads in the community, we were really in need of some improvements in the community, and this project has Waskesiu looking sharp,” said Schneider.

The project was made possible through one-time funding from the Federal Government.
