BHP Billiton to invest more into Jansen Potash Mine

BHP Billiton is pouring another 488 million dollars into its Jansen Potash Mine.

VP of External Affairs Chris Ryder says the new money will go toward site preparation for the mine to be built 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon.

“During the feasibility study, we're actually going to be doing some of the early work we've got funding for now. So that's going to include sinking the first 350 metres of shaft,” said Ryder.

Within ten years, it's expected it will be pumping out roughly eight million tonnes of potash.
