Jun 21, 2011 | 7:59 AM

The Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon was the subject of a police investigation Monday after tense hostage-taking Sunday afternoon, according to the StarPhoenix.

An inmate has been transferred to another centre after allegedly barricading himself in a room with three nurses.

By the time correctional officers busted into the office, the inmate had gotten on top of one of the employees and was holding a sharpened toilet brush handle to her throat.

The newspaper reported the inmate was pepper sprayed and taken under control.
