Streetfair a success despite cloudy weather

Hundreds of people turned out to the Prince Albert Downtown Street fair, braving chilly breezes and threatening clouds.

Luckily for those that made it out, the weather never took a turn for the worse and the day turned out to be a success.

There were dozens of stores, barbeques, street performers, musicians, historical lessons and activities along Central Avenue and side streets.

There was also the FireFit Challenge, where local firefighters and police officers made an impressive showing.

Prince Albert Downtown Improvement District Association executive director James Banman said the day was a great success with a strong turnout despite the weather.

“The street fair is all about the community. It’s about bringing people together, it’s about getting people downtown, to love downtown and it’s all about getting that experience,” he said.

As well he noted that this year was had the most participation in terms of businesses and organizations. That included the FireFit Challenge, as well as the E.A. Rawlinson Centre.

“We’ve got more stuff happening than ever before,” he said. “It was a little slow because it was windy but it was good.”
