Sentence handed down in Pelican Lake vigilante case

Jun 16, 2011 | 10:19 AM

A Saskatchewan man, who took justice into his own hands on the Pelican Lake First Nation, is going to jail.

Francis Hernandez, 47, pleaded guilty to assault and confinement charges in North Battleford Provincial Court on Wednesday.

Hernandez was sentenced to two years less a day to be served in a provincial correctional center for seeking revenge against three people he believed had broken into his home.

Earlier this year, he lured two teenagers and a 23-year-old man to a car wash. He stripped them down, tied them up to a dolly, soaked them with water and attached jumper cables to their genitals.
