Rider training camp starts today

Jun 5, 2011 | 1:00 PM

The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ training camp started this morning, another year to try and get over that hump that has seen the team stall at the past two Grey Cups against Montreal.

“Craig and Brendan and Jeremy did a good job of weeding guys out and picking the right people to have come into camp,” said Coach Greg Marshall. “Alex and all the other coaches, as far as the Canadian guys, looking at the draft, we’re happy with what we see at this point.”

Marshall added he’s excited to see the players who performed well at rookie camp make an impression.

“The thing you like to see is the guys who come in and you say ‘Hey, that guy’s got a chance, he gets it a little bit and now we’ve got something to work with.’ I saw a number of cases of that out here…the most encouraging thing was there was nobody out of place.”
