Top shooters take aim in Prince Albert

Jul 20, 2018 | 8:00 AM

Some of the best marksmen and women in the country descend on the Prince Albert Pistol and Rifle Club this weekend for the Western Canadian Skeet Championship.

Over 30 competitors are involved at the west range including Prince Albert’s Marcia Postle who is regularly ranked in the top three in the nation.

In describing the sport president of the club Steve Jeffers said it highlights extraordinary hand-eye coordination.

“There are a lot of passing shots in skeet,” he told paNOW. “You shoot a single shot, another single shot, and then you’d shoot the two targets at once, coming from the low and high house. They’re coming at around 100 kilometres an hour so it’s an eyes-and-reaction sport.”
