UPDATE: Saskatchewan RCMP reported the teen was taken into custody without incident. As the youth is now back in custody, paNOW has removed his name and photograph.

UPDATE: Pinehouse RCMP believe the youth may have been recently spotted in the Pinehouse Lake area and have now deployed a large amount of resources there.

According to a media release, a person matching the youth’s description fled from police in the bush. Members of the public are urged not to approach him. If you see him police ask you to call 911.

A 17-year-old who’s a suspect in a murder investigation in Ontario is believed to be headed for Saskatchewan, police said, and he’s now wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

According to the Peel Regional Police in Mississauga, Ont., the teen is believed to have fled Ontario, travelling to Saskatchewan. He is wanted in connection with the stabbing death of 19-year-old Daniel Smith, which occurred May 26 in Mississauga. Smith was rushed to a local hospital, police said, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators received authorization under the Youth Criminal Justice Act to release the youth’s name and photograph.

“He is considered a danger to the public and is known to possess firearms,” the Peel Regional Police wrote in a statement. “Investigators are encouraging him to seek legal counsel and turn himself in to the nearest police station.”

Anyone who spots the youth was encouraged not to approach him, and to call the police immediately.

Editor’s Note: This story was updated to remove the youth’s name and photograph now that he is back in police custody.
