A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a break-and-enter on a property in the R.M. of Buckland.

The alleged incident happened Saturday around 2 a.m. on Whitfield Rd. According to RCMP, a suspicious vehicle entered a rural property and an individual attempted to gain entry to the outbuildings in the yard. One building was accessed but nothing of significance was stolen, RCMP said, as the culprit was interrupted when another vehicle, driven by a relative of the homeowners, entered the property.

The suspect then got back into his vehicle, RCMP said, and collided with the relative’s vehicle while attempting to leave the property. He was able to continue and travelled a short distance north before his vehicle became inoperable from the damage. He then exited the vehicle, RCMP said, and ran into the nearby brush. RCMP attended the area and, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, located the suspect and took him into custody without further incident.

The teen now faces multiple charges including break-and-enter with intent, possession of property obrtained by crime, mischief under $5,000, and failure to comply with a probation order. The teen was scheduled to appear at Prince Albert Provincial Court June 25. He is presumed innocent at this stage.
