Teen who threatened grad class avoids jail sentence

An 18-year-old man who threatened students in the St. Brieux graduation class has been released from custody.

Brennan Hunt appeared Tuesday morning at Melfort Provincial Court, where he received a nine-month peace bond for a charge of uttering threats. The bond means Hunt must abide by a number of conditions or risk going back to jail.

Crown Prosecutor Tom Healey said he thought the peace bond was a good idea.

“If someone happens to see that he’s not honouring it, or the police notice something, I’m sure they will check into that, but I don’t anticipate problems,” Healy said. “I expect he will follow the terms of the peace bond.”
