Meath Park under precautionary drinking water advisory after break-in at treatment plant

Jun 5, 2018 | 2:21 PM

A “Do Not Use” notice was issued for the water in Meath Park today due to possible contamination in the water distribution system.

According to the Water Security Agency, residents are advised not to use tap water for any purpose until further notice. This includes drinking, cooking, washing, brushing teeth, and all other purposes. The agency advised residents not to attempt to treat the water themselves, and to use bottled water in the interim.

The water will not be considered safe to drink until the system has been flushed and bacterial tests have been conducted, the Water Security Agency said.

According to an official at the village office, the advisory was put in place after a break-in at a local water treatment facility.
