Crews conducting repairs along highways west of P.A.

May 31, 2018 | 12:00 PM

With the snow gone, construction and roadwork are well underway in the region.

Work crews have been out and about long Highway 3 between Crutwell and Holbein repairing cracks. Motorists travelling the highway should expect minor delays, according to Ministry of Highways Spokesperson Steve Shaheen.

“Expect some minor delays, watch for flaggers, equipment and people working,” Shaheen said.

Fines in construction areas triple compared to fines issued outside of work zones, he noted.

Work on the crack sealing project started May 28, and Shaheen said he expected the work between Crutwell and Holbein to conclude May 31.

“This prevents liquid from penetrating the roadbed,” Shaheen said. “[They’re] short-term repairs that hopefully mitigates some of the issues that we deal with once water penetrates.”

Next week, Shaheen said, crews will shift their attention to Highway 120 where they will conduct the same repairs to that road. People who use that stretch of road can also expect minor delays on their commute, he said.
