Local radio station powers up P.A. Street Fair

Jun 1, 2018 | 10:00 AM

A new title sponsor is helping the city get hyped up for the city’s 15th annual Street Fair.

POWER99FM, of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, is this year’s presenting sponsor of the festival in conjunction with Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District (PADBID).

“Its important for us to support events that bring community together, and for 15 years the street fair has done just that,” Station Manager Tyler Kinash said. “It is growing into something that is a heritage event for our city and gets bigger and better every year. This is a great showcase of local pride and what we have to offer as a community.”

As part of the sponsorship, ads promoting the fair will be aired in advance on the Pattison radio stations serving the area including POWER99FM, XFM and Saskatchewan Country CKBI. During the festival on-air personalities will also set up booths alongside the more than 35 expected vendors lining seven continuous city blocks.

“Having POWER99FM and the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group on board really helps us heighten the awareness of this family-friendly community celebration,” PADBID’s Carolyn Carleton said. “It helps us better service our mandate to encourage the development of a vibrant and prosperous downtown business district.”

Over 15,000 people attend the fair every year. Attractions include superheroes and princesses, food trucks and vendors, a farmer’s market, bouncy castles, live entertainment stages and more. Free entrance to the Prince Albert Historical Museum will be offered and several businesses will also be holding sales. The POWER99FM Street Fair 2018 runs Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Central Ave.
