A 20-year-old woman is facing a dangerous driving charge after a failed attempt to flee from Prince Albert police officers.

According to police, officers on patrol spotted a car with no licence plate turning into an alley north of 25th St. E. at 2 a.m. Thursday morning. The vehicle stopped in the alley, a police spokesperson said, and when the patrol officer turned on their lights the driver took off at a high speed.

Officers followed at a safe distance as the woman’s turned onto 48th St. E., police said. She made a final attempt to flee at high speeds, but lost control of her car on the gravel road and ended up in the ditch where she surrendered to police.

The 20-year-old woman, who was not identified by police, is charged with evading a peace officer and operating a vehicle in a manner dangerous to the public. She is scheduled to make her first appearance today in Prince Albert Provincial Court, and is presumed innocent at this stage.
