Local stage production offers laughs, music, and ‘a timeless story’

May 3, 2018 | 8:00 AM

The third and final production of the season from Prince Albert’s Spark Theatre is set to open tonight.

The first performance of the troupe’s production of Marg Szkaluba; Pissy’s Wife (written by Ron Chambers with original music by Paul Morgan Donald) will take place at 7 p.m. at the Mann Art Gallery. Director Ian Dickson said the play is the story of a young woman who found herself in an abusive relationship.

“It’s kind of a timeless story,” he said. “This woman just got herself into a bad situation from a young age, and she’s there telling the story of how she broke free.”

Although the cast only includes one actor – Karen Langlois in the title role – Dickson said the production is not just a one-woman show.
