New flight causing conflict

Oct 26, 2010 | 11:49 AM

Beginning next month, people living in a small northern Saskatchewan community will be given another choice for how they fly.

The Saskatoon based Pronto Airways will begin offering flights to and from Fond du Lac beginning Nov. 1. The company already runs flights to Uranium City, Wollaston Lake and Stony Rapids.

The news is being met with opposition from the local band chief who is threatening to get a court injunction. The Fond du Lac Band is a partner of Transwest Air, the sole existing company operating in the community.

Pronto Vice President and General Manager Dennis Baranieski said he is disillusioned by the band council.
