Mumm family expresses gratitude for community efforts

The family of James “Jim” Mumm has issued their thanks to everyone involved in successfully locating him.

On April 24, Jim was reported missing. After extensive search efforts spanning roughly 34 hours, he was located on April 25 in a field southeast of Shellbrook in need of medical attention, but otherwise in good spirits.

In an email to paNOW, the Mumm family expressed its appreciation to everyone involved in the search effort.

“When dad was told of the tremendous effort to find him, he became quite emotional,” Lisa Mumm, Jim’s daughter, said in the statement. “Words can’t express how grateful we are for the volunteers, RCMP, Search and Rescue, family, friends, neighbours and all those who helped bring dad home.”

The family set up a social media account to help coordinate efforts to find Mumm, which has garnered well over 700 followers. Businesses from around Shellbrook pitched in to ensure people searching were fed and watered, and residents of the community took time from their day to either help in the search, or look around their property for Jim.

“We will never ever forget how this community responded in our time of need,” Lisa said.

Jim sustained minor injuries when he went missing and while he may be a bit weak, he is showing signs of improvement according to Lisa Burns, who helped coordinate search efforts with the Mumm family.
