Apr 25, 2018 | 10:00 AM

Police in Prince Albert caught two armed men in the middle of an attempted break-and-enter Tuesday evening.

Officers were called to a business in the 100-block of 15th St. E. at approximately 7:30, where they found two suspects attempting to break into a trailer behind the business. Both men were wearing backpacks, police said, and a search revealed both were carrying knives. In addition, police said one of the suspects was found to have a sawed-off .22 rifle on his person along with ammunition and loose pills.

Both suspects, a 34-year-old male from Prince Albert and 23-year-old male from Saskatoon, were charged criminally. The older suspect was hit with numerous firearms charges along with obstructing a peace officer by providing a false name, possession of methylphenidate, and breach of probation. The younger suspect was accused of possessing a knife for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. The suspects, who were not named by police, are presumed innocent at this stage.
