UPDATE: P.A. house fire caused by electrical issue

Apr 25, 2018 | 8:29 AM

UPDATE: P.A. Fire Inspector David Davies said the cause of the fire was an electrical issue.

A resident was working on an electric mobility scooter on the deck, Davies said, which became hot and sparked the fire that damaged much of the rear of the structure.

Davies recommended using a qualified technician when working on electric equipment.

Several people were displaced after a fire at their home last night in Prince Albert.

The Prince Albert Fire Department was called to a structural fire in the 500-block of 23rd St. E. Tuesday night shortly before 7 p.m. According to the fire department, when firefighters arrived on the scene they found the blaze, which originated in the rear of the single-family home, had spread to the interior and attic.

“Aggressive actions knocked the fire down and further overhaul and salvage actions ensured the fire had been extinguished,” the fire department said in a statement.

Several occupants were left displaced after the fire, though no injuries were reported.

The fire department thanked the Prince Albert Police Service, Parkland Ambulance, SaskPower, SaskEnergy, Mobile Crisis and the Red Cross for providing assistance during and after the incident.
