Great Asian Market coming to Prince Albert

Apr 23, 2018 | 8:00 AM

A new specialty grocery store is nearly ready to open in Prince Albert.

Renovations are underway at the Prince Albert Shopping Plaza for a new Great Asian Market, which is expected to open June 2 at 2901 Second Ave. W.

The Prince Albert store will be the third Saskatchewan location for the chain. There are also Great Asian Markets in Saskatoon and Regina.

Bill Li, part of the management team bringing the new business to Prince Albert, said their existing locations are already quite popular with people from the region.

“We’ve got a lot of customers coming to Saskatoon from Prince Albert and La Ronge and other cities in the north,” Li told paNOW. “It’s a good market.”

The new store will feature fresh and frozen meats, seafood, halal food, spices, and sauces, Li said, and will be between 5,000 and 6,000 square feet.

The Great Asian Market is currently hiring for new positions in the store. Li said they are looking to hire about 10 employees in total, including two meat cutters, a cashier, and several general labourers.
