Man whose arrest was streamed on social media to serve one year in jail

A man whose arrest was featured in a viral Facebook video, has pleaded guilty to several charges including resisting arrest and assault causing bodily harm.

Rueben Ratt, 22, appeared Tuesday at court in Pelican Narrows.

The case dates back to January, 2018 when the alleged incident occured. Ratt was arrested two months later in the same community. His arrest was captured on two seperate videos, which were viewed a combined 220,000 times on Facebook.

In connection to the assault charge, Ratt was sentenced to 12 months less 75 days for time spent in remand. He received roughly six months for resisting arrest. The two sentences have been ordered to be served concurrently.
