Ness Creek Music Festival wins provincial tourism award

Apr 14, 2018 | 1:00 PM

Third time is a charm for the Ness Creek Music Festival.

After three consecutive years of being named a finalist for Tourism Saskatchewan’s Marquee Event of the Year, the popular summer festival has been named the 2017 award winner. The Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence were handed out Thursday night in Regina.

The Ness Creek Music Festival, which currently attracts 3,500 people from across the province, has been growing in popularity since its founding in 1991. The event features over 100 artistic and cultural performances and hands-on activities in 10 festival venues. Musical acts range from folk to funk to bluegrass and everything in between.  Last summer, the festival incorporated a floating stage — the Stage of Aquarius – on nearby Nesslin Lake.

The Ness Creek Music Festival was a finalist for the same award in 2016 and 2015, but lost out to the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival (2016) and Canadian Western Agribition (2015).
