Prince Albert’s Sawyer Lange and fellow ex-Prince Albert Raider Graeme Craig won the University Cup Men’s Hockey Championship.

Lange and Craig’s University of Alberta Golden Bears beat St. FX X-Men 4-2 in the finals on Sunday to win the school’s 16th national championship.

Lange, who hails from Prince Albert, is a third-year Golden Bear, and had nine points in 22 games this season. Lange also got an assist in the finals.

Before then, Lange played for the Raiders for four seasons from 2011-2015 and the previous two years with the Prince Albert Mintos in his Midget AAA action.

In his second year with the Golden Bears, Craig scored nine goals and 13 points in 27 games with the Bears. After playing for the Swift Current Broncos and Saskatoon Blades, Craig was traded to the Raiders at the deadline in the 2013-14 season.

Former Raider Jayden Hart is also on the Golden Bears roster, but did not play in the final.

In the bronze medal game, the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds defeated the University of Saskatchewan Huskies 5-4 in overtime.

On the women’s side, the UofS Huskies fell in the bronze medal match 4-0 to Concordia. The Huskies were led by five-year player and captain Kaitlin Willoughby of Prince Albert, as well as P.A.’s Morgan Willoughby and goaltender Jessica Vance.
