A young man shown in a viral Facebook video squirming and kicking as he was placed inside an RCMP truck has made a court appearance.

Rueben Ratt, 22, appeared via video at Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday. He was charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing in Pelican Narrows in January. At the time of the incident, RCMP had issued a warrant for Ratt’s arrest and caught up with him Feb. 27.

The arrest and a subsequent altercation between the arresting officers and bystanders was recorded and posted to Facebook. The video, which as of Wednesday had over 100,000 views, showed an RCMP officer telling a young woman to “F**k off,” and he later appeared to push her to the ground.

A follow-up video posted days later showed a young woman raising a hockey stick at one of the officers while his back was turned. Another woman was shown waving her middle fingers at the departing RCMP vehicle. The second video has been viewed over 117,000 times.
