Boushie family supporters gather as jury prepares to deliberate

Grades 7 and 8 students from Thunderchild First Nation participated in support of Colten Boushie’s family outside the Battleford courthouse Thursday.

Inside, Gerald Stanley is currently facing a charge of second degree murder in the August of 2016 fatal shooting of Colten Boushie.

“We’re representing our class, our school our reserve, our families,” teacher Leah Arcand said. “We’re here to show support for Colten Boushie’s family.”

The students carried plackards while standing outside court during the lunchtime break. Arcand said she hoped by participating in the rally the students will learn about the justice system.
