Bears swept by Rebels but still in first place

Jan 28, 2018 | 3:40 PM

The Prince Albert Northern Bears came into their two-game set this weekend against the Regina Rebels on a 13-game win streak, and without suffering a sweep all series.

The Rebels put an end to both of those runs as they picked a 3-2 win over the Bears on Saturday and a 2-1 overtime finish on Sunday at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Bears still remain in first place in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League, two points over the Saskatoon Stars with an 18-4-1-1 record.

The Bears have four games left in their regular season, Feb. 10-11 in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds, before wrapping up on Feb. 17-18 at the Art Hauser Centre against the Weyburn Gold Wings.
