Drinking water advisory issued for Village of Weldon

Jan 23, 2018 | 4:00 PM

Residents of Weldon will be boiling their tap water this week and possibly longer.

The Village Office issued a news release indicating a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory will take effect Wednesday at 1 a.m. The advisory is in response to a planned power outage affecting the village’s water treatment plant, and so the safety of the drinking water cannot be ensured at all times.

Residents are encouraged to boil all water used for drinking purposes or washing food. Residents are also discouraged from using the water for washing dishes, unless the water has been boiled or the dishes are sanitized in another fashion.

Parents with young children are encouraged to use a sponge bath. Adults, adolescents, and older children may shower, bathe, or wash using tap water, but should avoid swallowing the water. Laundry may be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine.
