It was a big weekend for the Prince Albert Mintos. Not only did they pick up a pair of overtime wins against the Yorkton Maulers, they also welcomed back to their lineup last year’s goal scoring leader in Kyrell Sopotyk.

Sopotyk, who missed the first 27 games of the season with a wrist injury, scored the OT winner in the 3-2 Mintos victory on Friday. Sopotyk assisted on all four goals on Sunday, including a helper on Alex Moar’s extra time winner on Sunday to win it 4-3. Sopotyk scored 42 goals and 59 points last year as a 15-year-old.

The Mintos have now won nine games in a row to improve to a 23-4-2 record on the year.

The Mintos are back in action on Thursday at the Art Hauser Centre against the Saskatoon Contacts. They’ll also stick at home for two games this weekend against the Moose Jaw Generals on Saturday and the Notre Dame Argos on Sunday.
