P.A. Police replacing four vehicles in 2018

Jan 4, 2018 | 11:00 AM

The Prince Albert Police Service are replacing four vehicles with brand-new models in 2018.

The city issued a tender for four new police package equipped vehicles including a four-door sedan, a full-size 4×4 SUV, and two 4×4 crew-cab pickup trucks – one white, one dark grey.

“Every year we do an analysis of our fleet and project which vehicles have to be replaced,” Police Chief Troy Cooper told paNOW. “We felt we’d need to replace those vehicles based on their age and their mileage and mechanical issues that we’ve been experiencing.”

Although bidding on the tender closed yesterday, Cooper said he could not yet provide the exact cost of the replacement vehicles. The tender lists Jan. 22 as the anticipated date of approval by City Council, and the contract is expected to be awarded Jan. 25. The vehicles will be included in the 2018 police budget, Cooper said, where capital funds are put aside for annual fleet expenditures.
