Provincial park campsite lottery applications set to open

As the province slowly climbs out of its weeks-long Arctic deep-freeze, residents may already be looking forward to their annual summer getaway at a provincial park.

For those interested in obtaining a seasonal site, the lottery application submission process begins Wednesday, Jan. 3. A lottery system is used as seasonal campsites are in high demand.

The deadline to submit completed applications is Thursday, Feb. 1, with the draw to award sites set to take place on Monday, Feb. 5. Seasonal bookings are offered at a discount from regular nightly camping rates.

There are 19 provincial parks that offer seasonal camping across Saskatchewan. Application forms can be found online at saskparks.net.

Provincial parks in the Meadow Lake area begin regular booking on Wednesday, April 18. Lac La Ronge, Makwa Lake and Bronson Forest will start bookings on April 19, and Candle Lake, Great Blue Heron and Narrow Hills, April 20.
