Wildfire Management gives back bountiful for holidays

Dec 20, 2017 | 11:00 AM

Since 2004, Wildfire Management has worked to give back to the community over the holidays.

Over the past three years, the organization focused on collecting donations for the Prince Albert Food Bank. With 352 fires this year, the management team set this number as their goal for the season.

But this was drastically exceeded. The organization’s Northern Air Operations in La Ronge gathered 172 pounds of food and the local Wildfire Centre brought in over 352.

“It is so important over this time of year to help out the individuals who may be less fortunate than others,” receptionist Hailey Erickson said.

Erickson was a driving force behind the collection, devising a unique way to encourage donations. Her idea involved a poster with a snowman on it, and she would “dress it” with different clothing items marked for 25-pound donation increments.

Though only with the organization for roughly eight months, Erickson said she has “recognized the generosity” of the employees, finds it inspiring and was “proud to be part of a workplace that recognizes that.”
