Enjoy fine dining and quiet atmosphere at The Spice Trail and Trishna Lounge

Dec 13, 2017 | 11:00 PM

If you’re looking for a new food experience in a quiet, friendly atmosphere, then The Spice Trail and Trishna Lounge is the place to be.

The freshest culinary experience in Prince Albert is a family run affair which features Neo-East Indian-Canadian fusion food made right from scratch in house.

From chutney to tandoori chicken, nothing comes pre-packaged and it all traces back to owner and chef Harry Rai’s roots.

“Take for example the ribs. Traditionally, in Kashmir, where I come from, not pork, but lamb ribs are done in a special way,” Rai said. “I’ve used that recipe to give a new twist to ribs.”

For those new to East Indian cuisine, Rai is more than happy to explain each dish and cater to individual tastes. His passion for combining the East and West through food shines through, and makes Spice Trail one of the most accommodating restaurants for foodies and non-foodies alike.

“I still get people walking in… very warily that it’s going to be hot,” Rai said. “That’s not the case. Spices should give you flavour, not heat. You can turn up the heat on anything… that kills the flavour.”

Beyond menu items, The Spice Trail offers a lunch and dinner buffet, along with finger foods and a catering menu.

Even if you don’t want to leave the comfort of your own home, Spice Trail’s food can be brought right to your door. Check out the full menu here. (www.thespicetrail.ca)

For a more intimate experience, Trishna Lounge is one of the newest adult lounges in Prince Albert. Trishna is a place to relax with friends with no interruptions; the music is at just the right volume for conversation, no VLT’s noise, as there are none within the establishment. Couple the inviting atmosphere with signature drinks exclusive to Trishna and you have the perfect setting.

The menu features signature alcoholic beverages and saffron tea, a drink which is unique to The Spice Trail and Trishna.

“That’s special to Kashmir, it’s made in a coal fired kettle, the kettle carries the coal in there and the tea keeps simmering in there,” Rai said. “I’m sure we’re the only place in Canada that would sell that.”
