Budik goes back to camp with Czech Republic

Dec 4, 2017 | 4:00 PM

Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Vojtech Budik has been invited to training camp with the Czech Republic for the 2018 World U20 Hockey Championships in Buffalo, New York.

Budik was a member of the Czech national team in Montreal and Toronto last year, appearing in two games as the Czech Republic fell to Team Canada in the quarterfinal. One year older, Budik heads to camp with significant experience under his belt as he has also appeared in the U18 World Championships with the Czech Republic as well as the European Youth Olympic Festival.

A fifth round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2016, Budik has now played 153 games with the Raiders in three seasons with the team.

Training camp for the Czech Republic will begin on Wednesday, December 13th, meaning the Raiders will be without the defencemen for a number of games in December, and in early January as well should he make the team.
