Riders’ Carter and Williams come to blows: reports

Oct 17, 2017 | 9:57 AM

Eight little words from Duron Carter on Twitter sparked an evening of speculation around receiver’s future with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

“It was a fun while it lasted. Love y’all,” the tweet read.

In the aftermath of his post, it came out that Carter and defensive back Sam Williams had gotten into a fistfight at practice earlier in the day.

3 Down Nation reported that Carter was in an altercation with a defensive player that could lead to his suspension, while Arash Madani posted a more detailed report that stated Carter and Williams were “summoned by a member of the staff to ‘fight’.”

It was later confirmed that neither Carter, Williams or receiver Bakari Grant – who according to Madani had tried to stop the fight – were released by the team.

Later in the evening defensive back, Jovon Johnson took to Twitter to clear the air, stressing the team would prefer to focus on their game this weekend against the first place Calgary Stampeders and that what happened wasn’t a big deal.

The Roughriders practice on Tuesday is closed, but there is a media availability at its conclusion.
