Two vehicle stops lead to arrests

Oct 16, 2017 | 12:42 PM

Four people are in custody after police made two unrelated traffic stops on Sunday.

On Oct. 14, police responded to the Muskoday First Nation to help the RCMP investigate a shots fired complaint. Suspects were not located, but police heard a suspect fled in a black Ford vehicle.

The next day after 2 a.m. a Police Dog Service member saw a vehicle matching the description from the previous evening. Several officers stopped the vehicle on the 600 block of Marquis Road E. Three people were detained for a firearm investigation. Police found a modified 22 calibre rifle and several rounds of ammunition.

Two females, aged 17 and 25, were arrested along with a 20-year-old male. All face numerous firearm related charges. The male was also charged with breaching a court order. Each will appear in court today.

Impaired driver

Police arrested a female and charged her for driving while under the influence of drugs.

On Sunday Oct. 15 in the early morning hours, police pulled over a suspected impaired driver travelling South on Central Ave. The driver’s speed was approximately 10 km/hr. There were no rear lights activated and the driver nearly struck a street light.

Police say the driver admitted to being under the influence of prescription drugs, which a drug recognition expert verified after an examination in the detachment’s cellblock.

A 34-year-old Prince Albert woman is charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired. She was released and will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Oct. 26.
