Mintos no longer undefeated after meeting Blazing hot goalie

Oct 14, 2017 | 9:38 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos’ undefeated streak to start the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League season is now over—and they can blame Matthew Pesenti.

Pesenti made 48 saves as his Saskatoon Blazers beat the Mintos 3-2 on Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre—blemishing the Mintos’ once perfect record that’s now 5-1.

The Mintos outshot the Blazers 50-13 but still couldn’t get their sixth win. Rookies Josh Pillar and Jaxon Tait scored the P.A. goals. Connor Gabruch, Carter Stebbings and Christian Albertson scored for the Blazers.

The Mintos’ next play on Oct. 24 against the Tisdale Trojans at the Art Hauser Centre.
