Parker Kelly signs with Senators

Parker Kelly has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators.

The 18-year-old Prince Albert Raider forward earned an invite to Ottawa’s annual development camp in July after going through the 2017 NHL entry draft without being selected. From there he was selected to join the team at a rookie tournament in Toronto this fall and ultimately to participate in training camp.

“There’s a reason why he wore a letter as a 17-year-old last year,” Raider General Manager Curtis Hunt said. “He comes to the rink every day, he’s prepared, he works, he competes, he was second on our team in scoring last year. We’re just really excited for the opportunity he’s earned himself by his tremendous attitude and his unstoppable work ethic and desire.”

A native of Camrose, Alta., Kelly was drafted in the seventh round of the 2014 Western Hockey League bantam draft by the Raiders, earning a spot with the club as a 16-year-old in 2015. The 5’11” 172 lbs. forward had a breakout year with 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points during the 2016-17 season.
