Second phase of hydraulic flushing starts this week

Aug 20, 2017 | 4:33 PM

The second half of the city’s watermain flushing program begins next week for residents on the hill.

Flushing is scheduled to start for Zone Two from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday starting Tuesday, Aug. 22 and thereafter. Hydraulic flushing is used to clean watermains of built-up sediment.

Residents will receive a pamphlet and yellow door hanger 24 hours in advance of flushing in their area and are asked to not use their water until they receive a blue door hanger indicating they can resume water consumption. The city is also working with businesses in the impacted area.

After the flushing process, there may still be a discolouration of the water and residents are asked to run their cold water taps for five to ten minutes to clear this out.
