Waskesiu warming up for summer music festival

Aug 20, 2017 | 11:00 AM

For those looking to soak up summer down to the last ray of sun, Prince Albert National Park will be the place to be later this month.

The third annual Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival is set for Aug. 25 to 27, giving attendees one last opportunity to get the lawn chair out before the Labour Day long weekend.

“We are trying to encourage visitors to extend their summer and celebrate the unique attributes that make this park…the place that we love,” Bronwyn Craig, promotion and non-personal media officer for the park said.

In the spirit of Canada 150, the event is aiming to be bigger and better than ever, starting with what Craig called a “first class lineup,” with local talent Codie Prevost headlining the event, as well as Saskatchewan bands The Dead South and Rosie & The Riveters, among others.

Throughout the weekend, numerous children’s activities, nature games, artists and interpretive programs will be on offer. Saturday will be packed with events alongside a wide array of musical talent on stage in the afternoon, belting everything from folk and country and pop. Sunday, a pancake breakfast will start the day off, with continued activities throughout.

Entry to the park is free along with many other assets such as the live much and children’s programming, though costs will be required for things such as accommodations, the pancake breakfast, the cabaret fundraiser and food and beverage options on site.

More on the family orientated festival can be found online.
