P.A. athletes bring home Summer Games medals

Prince Albert and area athletes earned silver and bronze medals at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.

The event, held in Winnipeg from July 28 to Aug. 13, garnered Prince Albert track star Katelyn Lehner a silver medal in the 100-metre dash. She also finished in the top five.

Team Saskatchewan also won the silver medal in softball. Team Sask. featured a number of local athletes, including Prince Albert’s Matt Kutnikoff and Nick Basaraba, as well as St. Louis’ Nick Patrick.

Patrick threw a perfect game on Aug. 1 in a 3-0 victory over B.C. He retired all 21 batters he faced, with a whopping 16 strikeouts.

Austin Strauss won two bronze medals in track relay events, in both the 100-metre and 400-metre relays.
