RCMP investigates Cumberland House homicide

RCMP in Cumberland House are investigating a homicide.

On Aug. 10, during the early morning hours, police responded to a complaint of an unresponsive 21-year-old woman. When RCMP arrived on scene, EMS were treating Carissa Ballantyne, from Cumberland House. She was later pronounced dead. 

A suspect was identified and arrested.

Acea Dorion, 21, has been charged with second degree murder, and will make his first court appearance in La Ronge provincial court on Aug. 14.

It is believed both Dorion and Ballantyne knew each other.
