Glenn guesses right on panel discussion during Riders loss

Aug 8, 2017 | 5:20 PM

Despite being pulled from the game, Kevin Glenn was still having some fun on the sidelines with the CFL on TSN panel Saturday night.

The starting quarterback was pulled with about four minutes left while the Riders were losing to the B.C. Lions by a score of 30-0.

Canadian QB Brandon Bridge came into the game and threw two touchdowns to cut the deficit in half, ending the game with a score of 30-15.

While on the bench, Glenn knew exactly what the panel would be discussing.

“Kevin Glenn’s getting old, there’s a quarterback controversy right now,” Glenn jokingly said to the cameras trained on him.

Glen Suitor confirmed Glenn’s suspicions.

“(It) just happened we were talking about that at that point,” Suitor told the 980 CJME Morning Show.

Suitor said he’s never seen a player mention what the panel was discussing while the camera was on them.

“We see many times where a player will talk into the camera, usually say ‘Hi mom’ or something or try and send a message to somebody,” he said.

“But never have I seen them say ‘Oh i know what they’re talking about, they’re talking about a quarterback controversy in Saskatchewan.’”

Suitor wanted to make one thing clear to Rider faithfuls.

“Glen Suitor is not suggesting a quarterback change here, he just started the conversation.”

As for Saturday’s loss, the former Roughrider said there were several factors including a lack of run game and pushing the ball downfield.

“There was probably a whole bunch of small little things that you could pick out,” he said.

Suitor added the Riders aren’t “quite there yet” when it comes to competing with the top teams in the West division.
