RCMP release man who had been taken in what was called `significant’ arrest

GODS LAKE NARROWS, Man. — One day after arresting a man in the 2013 death of a girl who was brutally slain and left on a snowy trail in Gods Lake Narrows, Man., RCMP have released him without charges.

The Mounties are pleading with anyone, particularly those in the community, to come forward with any information that might help in the case of 15-year-old Leah Anderson.

The 23-year-old man had been arrested Wednesday in the remote community 550 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.

Anderson’s body was in such bad shape that it was initially thought she had been attacked by wolves or dogs, but eventually investigators concluded she had been viciously beaten.
