Jul 20, 2017 | 2:00 PM

After weeks of wet weather which hurt seeding efforts, Prince Albert and region is looking for rain.

Hot and dry temperatures continue to stress crops, hay and pastures. Farmers say rain will soon be needed. Causes of crop damage this week include wind and a lack of moisture.

Cropland topsoil moisture is rated as 67 per cent adequate, 18 per cent short and four per cent very short. Hay land and pasture topsoil moisture is rated as 72 per cent adequate, 16 per cent short and three per cent very short.

Rainfall this past week ranged from nothing to 35 mm in the Porcupine Plain area. The Nipawin area holds the record for the most precipitation at 453 mm in both the region and the province since April 1.
